Carnies: Le Clown Needs Your Help Now!

A Special Message from Le Clown

White Baby Jesus™ and Le Clown have worked together to create a very special secular XMAS™ e-card. Being engulfed by the holiday spirit, Le Clown would like to send an e-card, with a very special message, to the Westboro Baptists Church folks. However, Pastor Fred Phelps is ignoring my tweets, and does not seem interested in my e-card, which makes me a sad clown, and as I’ve said many times before, a sad Le Clown is an ugly Le Clown. Or perhaps they are too busy recovering from the Anonymous hacktivists‘ attacks on their website…

Pastor Fred Phelps

PASTOR FRED PHELPS IS NO BUFFOON

Here’s what Le Clown needs from you:

  1. For those who are on Twitter: send this tweet to the Westboro Baptist Church: @GodHatesFagsWBC Please accept a special ecard from our heterosexual Le Clown http://bit.ly/UTkzrG #WBCLeClownLove
  2. I would ask you to send them an email, but the Anonymous hacktivist group has already hacked their website in protest of their plans to picket Sandy Hook Elementary School.
  3. In solidarity, write WBC a special secular XMAS™ message in my comment thread.

After all, everyone is entitled to a bit of holiday love, wouldn’t you agree?

Thank you,

Le Clown

  1. So we’re harassing a hate group? What good will this do as hate groups never change their spots?

    • Combat Babe,
No, we’re not harassing them… You make a very valid point. We’re sending them Christmas love… secular Christmas love. As we are just that, a love group!

      • Well I do have to say I wonder how you can get away with secular xmas love, but I say one thing about Bible thumpers and I’m condemned. I need a touch of your potion. I think most my Christian friends would be offended by your Jesus Le Clown. I love it though. :)

        • Combat Babe,
I come from a very religious Catholic family, and have very strong feelings about the Church, much less about religion, which CAN be a source of peace for some. It is the holiday season after all, and Le Clown is predictable this way…

          • My dad’s side is very religious. My parents don’t talk about religion and my sister and I were brought up to believe whatever we wish to believe. That’s my background. I don’t think it matters where you come from. In a different way, I love when a white person will use derogatory language about a black person or use the N word then excuse themselves to say “may favorite person is black” or “I have a black Uncle.” Silly the way the world works sometimes. I’m not saying that what you’re doing is anything like that. I am saying the whole “I can do this because I come from” can be a little… interesting. I love humor in all forms and I think speaking against this kind of message that this pastor is putting out is admirable. Your humorous way, interesting.

            • CB,
I get your point. I’m not justifying my actions on where I come from: I have a loud mouth and I will take actions whenever I feel I need to, withstanding of my background. My comment was just to give you a little part of my childhood. Aren’t you lucky?

Is that the kind of mutually-abusive relationship you want to have with me? Is it? You might want to check you tone with me, friend, because I’ve had it about up to ^^here^^ with your holier-than-thou tones and insinuations that I am not enough. Way to kick a girl when she’s already reeling from such humiliating defeat. (I wrote about my feelings about this a couple of weeks ago. I figure this is kind of like finding out your son just knocked his girlfriend up… it’s frustrating and embarrassing, but you can’t just stop loving him, right?) 13. Dear WBC (by the kindness of M. Le Clown),

I’m praying that you may be found to have immortal souls this Festive Season.

May I also refer you to the Gospel according to St John, Chapter 3, Verse 16? The one which in every Bible translation I’ve come across reads: “For God so loved THE WORLD that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him might not perish, but have everlasting life”.

I do believe that it says “THE WORLD” and not “WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH”. Or, as I have quoted from the King James Version (also known as the Authorised Version), did His Royal Highness’s translators get it wrong?

May you have a very merry, loving, peace-filled and respectful festive season.

      • *Bows*. Thank you. Le Clown. I also get really, really, really angry (to the point of steam coming out of my ears) when people start using God and/or Religion to be intolerant of others. They’re the ones who miss the point. And I’m not just on about Christianity – in Islam, there’s sections on respecting people of other traditions, and in Judaism there is too. Just don’t ask me chapter and verse ‘cos I don’t know that.

I go into a 3-day retreat tomorrow, so may not reply further on this subject, but I will be praying that somehow, a miracle will happen and WBC will suddenly realise that what they’ve been doing is contrary to the teachings of Jesus as found in the four Gospels.

      • The first one, it really changed how I think about this group. It’s more pity than hate now.

There’s a comment in there too by a man who works with someone who married into the family. Apparently in the professional world they’re completely benign.

The son at one point says his father would have no problem taking a gay man’s money to defend him in court, all the while believing he was going to hell.

        • Antoinette,
Hate is a big word, and I wouldn’t use it either. What I am though is afraid of the message they are perpetrating, and that hate that comes out of it. Whatever [some] of their motives are, the end result is a message or persecution towards specific groups, and to me, it’s something which we as a collective must work towards eradicating, or at least, protecting our fellow human beings.

          • Agreed. I like the way the Patriot Guard Riders deal with them. I like the way the San Diego Comic Con dealt with them. I love reading about an entire college mocking them, like U of Chicago.

Reading about them, I don’t know if it’s a group that would survive Fred Phelps death. If he wasn’t there, beating the shit out of people, terrorizing them, would they stay? Would they care?

In some ways, they remind me of Scientologists, with their reliance on lawsuits/lawyers. They protested my campus and we instructed not to interact with them at all, because they are so litigious.

  17. This massacre has hit too close to home for me. I know Newtown. I know Sandy Hook. See my post: http://fiftyfourandahalf.com/2012/12/14/newtown/

I’m not on Twitter or I would happily comply. I will however, write to the President, the Vice President, the Governor of Connecticut, the Mayor of Newtown, The Internal Revenue Service, my two senators, the two senators of the state where they are incorporated (wherever the fuck they crawled out of), my Congressional representatives, THEIR Congressional representatives.

TWENTY CHILDREN DIED ON FRIDAY, along with six adults who died trying to protect them. The First and Second Amendments must have some limits. And this constitutes going way beyond reasonable application of these.

I thought I was angry before. But it was nothing. Absolutely fucking nothing.

Such a powerful comment. What happened Friday was atrocious, and so very sad. I myself was stunned, and pondered about these posts, if I was going to publish them or not. I sent A Secular XMAS™ Gift For You! to a friend last night to have her opinion on it, and she gave me her blessings. This morning when I read about Anonymous attacks on WBC’s sites, I decided to write this one, and speak out. I think we all have a different voice, and a way to deal with the pain of Friday’s events, and we should choose to use it, as opposed to apathy.

Good for you for singing that petition, with the message you’ve shared with us in your second comment. Much love to you.

  18. For what it’s worth, DailyKos.com has an online petition to President Obama. Here is my personal message:

It is long past time. We cannot control the crazy people who use the guns to kill innocent people — and who just days ago killed the most innocent, our children. Furthermore, we DON’T even try to control them.

Therefore, we must begin a national discussion, based on the common good, to do what we can to avoid the next tragedy. And that means to look at what we can do to regulate semi- and automatic weapons that are designed for no purpose other than to kill. We cannot stop crazy people from killing, but we can make it more difficult for them to try.

Westboro had plans to march at the memorial in Joplin Missouri a couple of years ago – their plan was to disrupt the Presidents message. Missourians did the greatest thing – for a circle over a hundred miles around Joplin, no one would sell them any services. No gas, no food, no lodging. No amount of money could buy what it took to get to that memorial and they were a no show!

My message for them – GOD HATES NO ONE!

  22. I a little lost. Not by your post but what that church is trying to do. I looked the word picket up and I found this: “Picketing is a form of protest in which people (called picketers)[1] congregate outside a place of work or location where an event is taking place. Often, this is done in an attempt to dissuade others from going in (“crossing the picket line”), but it can also be done to draw public attention to a cause.”

And the article you linked to says: “Westboro will picket Sandy Hook Elementary School to sing praise to God for the glory of his work in executing his judgment.”. Also that they are very anti-gay.

Is that church saying the all those kids and people deserved to die because they were gay? I’m so confused.

  34. Dear WBC

Fred honey, you must tell me how you fit so much hatred into your day? What with waking up late with the worst hangover I’ve had since the one I had two days ago, (I blame the gays, I really do, after all it was with my other gay pals in the gay pub that caused the mother of all hangovers) then I had to change the cat litter, get some breakfast on the go, put some washing in the machine, tidy up the kitchen, catch up with some correspondence, drive to Chelsea for dinner..the list goes on.

But I finally have 5 minutes to sit and write something hateful about a group of people who have no bearing on my life, you know, like what you do all day every day. You see Freddy, I only have these few minutes to think about how revolting you are, of what a skidmark on the underpants of the world you are. I won’t even get that riled by what you do, you’re an attention seeker who thrives on that. You’ll never know happiness. We Win.

  35. I am a born again Christian who once upon a time attended a Baptist church. I am embarrassed and shocked (well, maybe not shocked) at your narrow mindedness and would like to remind you that GOD LOVES EVERYBODY. Even anal retentive haters such as yourselves.

  36. Dear Westboro Baptist Church, as much as you want us to hate you, I for one will not. For I know there cannot be a war unless both sides agree to fight, and today I refuse to be your enemy. My heart is sad that you choose to do the things that you do. But I will not feed you energy by fighting you. I will look upon you as the sad creatures you truly are.

    • Rumpy Dog,
A Clown’s best friend you are today. I appreciate your message of peace. I for one think it’s the way to go. To speak out loud, not with hatred, but with courage and compassion. But to speak out firmly to protect those we love, and those who need the time to heal.

  37. Dear WBC, I sincerely hope you’re able to overcome your ignorance and fear so that you can let love into your hearts. It feels pretty awesome! Have a very peaceful and quiet holiday season.
    Love,
    Lyssa

  38. Embarrassing as it is to say, Westboro Baptist resides in my home state of Kansas. Those people are a bunch of in-bred freaks who I have absolutely no use for. I am not interested in wasting any of my time even acknowledging them. You’re lucky you live in Canada and don’t have to put up with their special form of religious bullshit.

  39. Excuse me, but who the fuck are these fucking fucks!? Are they for real!? There is no limit to the depth of human stupidity. Arghh!!!! “I fart in your general direction, you stupid WBC pig-dogs!” (Apologies to Monty Python.)

  40. To the congregation of Westboro, be careful what you wish for. When you meet your Maker you may find that He hates the bigoted and intolerant even more than you hate Gays. Wouldn’t that be an unpleasant surprise?

  41. I really wish I knew more about all this…anything I should be reading up on to know what this is all about?

  42. I don’t believe in hell (we seem to have that covered here on Earth), but if there is a hell, it was created for people like the WBC. God might love and forgive you, WBC, but I won’t.

  43. Dear WBC, In the past when you have been mentioned on a blog, I have taken the blogger to task for giving search a small group—a family group—such a large amount of attention. I abhor the publicity you get for your putrid hatred. I am also a firm advocate of the First Amendment and that includes speech I find repulsive. I hate to put anything off limits. However, if you disgraced, demeaned and in any way disrespect the funerals of any of these precious little ones, well, to quote Col. Jessup, “I’m gonna rip the eyes out of your head and piss into your dead skull[s]!” Have a nice day. HF

  44. Dear WBC,
    God hates hate.

  45. Dear WBC,
Believe it or not, I am a Mormon. What’s more, I love gay people, I think drag queens can be immensely sexy, my husband is half-black which means I have mixed-race children, I drink a pint a night, and God hates you. Jesus came to me last night and said this: “FUCK WBC. They are all going to Hell. I have an arrangement with Satan. The Mayans were only talking about WBC when the 12/23/12 shit goes down.”
I hope you get food poisoning this XMAS and anally raped by a honey badger. MUAH!
    SIncerely,
    U/CL

  47. My soul joins the energy of all that love and promote peace… and share this quote by Ghandi:
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win ~ Mahatma Gandhi …
Peace be with you, WBC, et al…

thank you Le Clown for providing a conduit for the energy to gather itself… and the distribution of this energy is natural – it will fall where it is most needed – most likely into the vacuum that is created by haters…

    metta love and mega peace…
    :)

  48. Le Clown,
I can’t tweet. I can’t make myself do it. It sends me into despair when I think of having only 140 characters to make a point.
I can’t give these haters a voice. I can’t make myself do it. It sends me into despair when I think that I cannot just laser their hateful mean asses right off the planet.
I can’t allow the haters to take any more of my time. I can’t make myself do it. It sends me into despair when I think of the useful things I could be doing right now if only I had a super sonic laser. For tweeting I am no good to you, but get me a laser and I’m your girl.

  50. ok, I’ll tweet. But if the WB Baptist church didn’t exist, we’d have to invent them. Do you think they just have an unusual sense of humour?
