La Becca on Fire, by The Indie Chicks

We are ending A Becca On Fire with a testimonial from the eloquent Chiara Mazzucco, editor-in-chief of The Indie Chicks. La Becca™, Le Clown hopes you have enjoyed your week… and what a phenomenal [freshly pressed and being picked by the WordPress peeps as a Freshly Pressed favourite] week it was for you. Cheers to you, my dear friend. Readers, you might want to read a very special Indie Chicks‘ article on La Becca here.

WHY BECCA IS THE BLOGGER WE ADORE

Being an online magazine definitely has its perks. One of those perks is the fact we don’t have to word vomit a bunch of articles to keep publishing fresh content. We happen to have a big blogger readership and are very guest-blogger driven. But before you start picturing the team laying back and catching some sun while bloggers do all the work for us, I want you to realize that we reject most of the submissions. We reject submissions that aren’t like Becca’s submission.

FIRST OF ALL, WHAT A WRITER

Before I even touch on anything else, I have to tell you how addicted I was to her writing style. Yes, her words flowed. Yes, she used correct grammar, spelling and punctuation. Blah, blah, blah. But it was the ‘between the lines’ chuckle and the quirky wit that vibrated through her words that really kept me glued. (I really wish you the best in writing, Becca – you’re extremely talented. Use the marketing to push your writing.)

WHY SHE STOOD OUT

The not-so-perks about running a guest-blogger driven online magazine range from having to reject ridiculous, salesy, spammy, what-are-you-even-doing-on-our-website submissions, and reading through entire posts that are basically dear diary entries you just want to put in front of a bigger audience.

Becca’s submission wasn’t selling anything other than her love and passion for a cause (and her general obsession with face bush, of course). It came from a selfless place, wanting to educate our readers on the Movember movement.

WHY WE NEED MORE BLOGGERS LIKE HER

Becca is a great writer who can keep your attention through to the end of the post. Her submission was selfless and not pitching anything but her passion for a cause. And while these are both wonderful qualities we wish to see more of in our guest submissions, the proof is in OUR actions following her article going live.

We launched our own campaign to support Movember. We hadn’t planned for it and quite frankly, hadn’t even thought of it until Becca sent us her post (despite my husband rockin’ a Movember stache of his own). With the inspiration and the launch of our newest baby, The Indie Dick column, you better believe we’ll be going full force next year – short of growing our own staches, of course.

So that’s why we need (and adore) bloggers like Becca: because they inspire.

Movember article here, and a very special tribute here.

  1. Chiara,
What a perfect summary of Becca’s greatness!
I can see the future. In it, I see people everywhere; waiting rooms, subways, beaches, cruise ships; all reading a book with the author’s name Becca Cord on the cover.
    She is a master!

  2. I’ve already hopped over to The Indie Chicks site for Becca lovin’… and it was great! It makes me feel good to see Becca get the praise she so richly deserves. The ability to highlight a worthy cause and entertain at the same time is a difficult one to master, but Becca makes it look easy.

And that’s all I have to say about that.

  3. It’s always fun to read Becca’s posts, but it’s also fun to read a post about the Good-hearted spirit that is Becca!

Honestly, I think it was THE BEST week this blog has ever known!

I’m off to give Le Clown a hug and pet him a little, cause I might’ve made him feel bad now.

*Shh, shh, it’s okay, it was only a joke, mon petit clown. Shhhh…*

    • Daan,
Le Clown never feels bad. You’re also a N00b on A Clown on Fire.
1: It was indeed a magnificent™ week on ACOF.
2: How sad that you have missed all the other previous magnificent™ weeks. Now you know what you’ll be doing during the Holidays…

      • Thank you for calling me “Noob” and spelling it with 2 0′s. It totally made me think of boobs. It’s going to be a great saturday-night.

In response to number two, and feel free to giggle, cause I said “number two”: I actually have some intense bloglovin’, or bloghumpin’, if you will, in the works for your blog. It’s going to be slightly indecent, but you can rest assured that your blog will be held warm and feel loved this winter.

If you like, you can read more about it here. And yes, Becca: plug alert!

  7. Hello Ciara,

So is it FlameBecksta or something like this from here on out? Tell her I’ll send a reminder for our lunch date next September, hope I manage to be a gentleman.

Just how opposed to dirty little diaries and the ridiculous are you?

  18. I just wanted to comment to say I was unable to be fully present here on Saturday due to internet issues, but I have read every post and every comment. It was no doubt the best week EVER, and I am forever grateful to everyone who participated, showed love, and contributed to making that happen. Especially you Chiara. The Indie Chicks article was the perfect way to surprise me and wrap up the week with a huge boom. Thank you for all of your wonderful words and kindness.

Le Clown, I have come to love you and not just because you gave me a week of superstardom. You are a remarkable human being. No questions about it.
