Kudos on the recent Freshly Pressed bloggers : Sips of Jen and Tonic, Curmudgeon-at-Large, Mike Callahan, Someone Fat Happened, Roller Giraffe, The Bumble Files, iRuniBreathe, Laments and Lullabies, Large Self, Fear No Weebles, that blogger friend of mine who just received the Freshly Pressed email, and yours truly, the magnificent™ Le Clown. That’s half of my blogroll… Now for the other half?
The quality of the recently pressed posts, and some of the edgy content, lets me believe that the WordPress brand might be evolving… Somehow, I think Michelle—our story wrangler—might have something to do with it…
But anyway… Congrats, newly pressed bloggers, and thank you, WordPress, for giving visibility to posts with a certain kick to them… A much welcome change. — Le Clown.
ADDENDUM: Equally mad props to Cheri, the unsung story wrangler, for her efforts and keen eyes.

Congrats guys! Perhaps some of us are a little too edgy.
Posted by La La | November 1, 2012, 15:33I thought that, too. So, from now on, I’m only doing my posts racist tirades. Yeah, I’m looking at you, other cultures and nationalities!

Posted by workspousestory | November 1, 2012, 17:15La La,
I don’t know about that… I mean, I do not work for Automattic, but I’d bet they have been looking at your blog… An educated guess. Don’t quote me on this.
Le Clown
Posted by Le Clown | November 1, 2012, 18:12I agree with you, La La. So much for having a wicked wit. And for being smarter than your average bear.

Posted by Le Clown | November 1, 2012, 18:23Oh no … more of my citizens from NonFreshly Pressed Nation have left my country. The agony of it all as you …. Le Clown … is bringing my kingdom to its knees. However, I will stand tall for those who remain!
Posted by aFrankAngle | November 1, 2012, 15:53Thanks, Frank. I’ll be standing there with you, though I’m not tall.

Posted by aFrankAngle | November 1, 2012, 19:26Frank,
You have a great style, keep at it, and be recognized for your own voice. You don’t need to be edgy. Read iRun iBreathe. She writes beautifully, without delving necessarily in edginess.
Le Clown

Posted by JackieP | November 1, 2012, 16:01Jackie,
I think Le Clown is suffering from a post-Halloween candy rush, which would explain the saccharine content of this post…
Le Clown
Posted by Le Clown | November 1, 2012, 18:41Well we forgive you, one can’t help a sugary content after Halloween.
I’m sure you will be back to your usual Le Clown self soon.
Posted by JackieP | November 1, 2012, 18:49With Fresh press comes fresh responsibilities. Congrats to all of them – well deserved!
Posted by braintomahawk | November 1, 2012, 16:09Brain,
You know, all jokes aside–which kind of hurts for a clown–your first sentence was almost the title of this post, only better, of course.
Le Back to Being Funny Clown
Posted by Le Clown | November 1, 2012, 18:51Agreed. The post with which I made my Freshly Pressed debut contained the word “boobs” a record 13,000 times (okay, just three, but that’s still one more mention than the actual number of boobs).
Posted by Jeni | November 1, 2012, 16:13Jeni,
Sometimes, sometimes only, I lack in the subtlety department. And when this happens, I say things like: Jeni, it’s always a pleasure to see you here… But then, I tell myself: Le Clown, please, a bit of composure…
Le Clown
Posted by Le Clown | November 1, 2012, 19:01I think FP just hates long johns and redheads. Just kidding. Congrats to everyone. You all get a free pair of autographed Hanes.
Posted by becca3416 | November 1, 2012, 16:13You’re right, actually. They do, however, love long redheads named John. You’re so close!
Posted by calahan | November 1, 2012, 18:33Damn it all to hell! I am no where close to being long. Or named John.

Posted by Le Clown | November 1, 2012, 19:06Nice job LeClown! Congrats to all of the recently Pressed Folks. For me, being FPed (9/27/12) took my page hits from 4 to over 1000 for one day, then back down to a nice round 13 after that.
My tip? Write something really obnoxious that makes your family hate your guts. Worked for me!
Posted by thecheekydiva | November 1, 2012, 17:16Oh yeah, I almost forgot~~ Michelle was such a supportive story wrangler when I ultimately chose to remove the post. She’s a great gal. Thanks Michelle!

Posted by Le Clown | November 1, 2012, 20:21Understood, and thank you! Can’t wait to guest host for you! I’ve never done that before. You’ll have to tell me how we do that. And also how to put a clown nose and mustache/beard on my avatar for the monumental event.

Posted by Soul Walker | November 2, 2012, 16:48Being brand new to blogging, I’ve found the FP section very helpful and inspiring and damned entertaining, and also thanks to you Le Clown for your always-excellent suggestions. Doing so much time reading now, not so much writing is happening whoops!
Posted by shapelle | November 1, 2012, 18:06Shapelle,
That is really nice of you to say. There is so many great bloggers on WordPress… It gives me so many reasons to ignore my kids… One post at a time…
Le Clown
Posted by Le Clown | November 1, 2012, 21:02Congrats to all you magnificent (check’s in the mail Le Clown) bloggers! Well deserved!
Posted by SocietyRed | November 1, 2012, 18:53Red,
I am still working on your email. It really touched me, and as I am one to write on the spur of the moment, it often lacks the depth I’d like my message to have. My wife suggested I take my time with your email. And sometimes, I do listen to my wife.
Le Clown
Posted by Le Clown | November 1, 2012, 18:55No worries man! I’m glad the message was received in the spirit intended. And you should always listen to your wife anyway!
Posted by SocietyRed | November 1, 2012, 20:22I’ve noticed that FP has had a little (ok, a lot) more bite to it lately. DailyPost as well. I think we all win when wranglers like Michelle and Cheri are at the helm!
Posted by timmer | November 1, 2012, 19:11Timmer,
Right?? There’s a more palpable balance when it comes to the posts that are chosen… Oh, and BTW, you have many fans on the blogosphere, Le Clown included, but Becca should be the president of your fan club. Just sayin’.

Posted by Le Clown | November 1, 2012, 21:09Yup, congrats to all who have received the freshly pressed honors.
Posted by writerwendyreid | November 1, 2012, 19:19Wendy,

Le Clown
Posted by Le Clown | November 1, 2012, 21:11Le Clown … off topic, but important … have you heard from Weebs since the storm?
Posted by aFrankAngle | November 1, 2012, 20:01Frank,
Last time I heard from Weebs was Tuesday morning. She and hubby made it through Sandy, but they are still without electricity. She is only communicating using her cellphone (with an extra battery), so she’s keeping all lines of communications to the minimum. I myself am looking forward for a Weebles’ email.
Le Clown
Posted by Le Clown | November 1, 2012, 20:03Thanks … the important thing is that they made it through Sandy! See, I’m a benevolent czar who also cares about former citizens.
Posted by aFrankAngle | November 1, 2012, 20:06As you know, Le Clown, I blame you. It is all your fault and the others should blame you as well. Complete strangers now want my autograph. Little girls offer ME cookies. And I’m not expecting that check in the mail, either. Bah! Humbug!
Posted by Curmudgeon-at-Large | November 1, 2012, 20:12Curmudgeon-at-Large,
I’ve never told you this, but you’ve always reminded me of someone I love dearly: my 2 1/2 daughter, when she has an ear infection, and stomach flu.
Le Clown
Posted by Le Clown | November 1, 2012, 21:17Aww! How sweet.
Posted by Curmudgeon-at-Large | November 1, 2012, 21:25Le Clown, what are my odds of being Freshly Pressed if I write about you?
Posted by Adam S | November 1, 2012, 20:17Adam,

Le Clown
Posted by Le Clown | November 1, 2012, 20:18I will roll the dice on it then
Posted by Adam S | November 1, 2012, 20:21I think you were most worthy sir. I am still baffled by how they choose who they do but I am with La La. Perhaps I am too egdy.

Le Clown
Posted by Le Clown | November 2, 2012, 22:50Félicitations, monsieur Le Clown. Vous êtes une grande source d’inspiration pour tout le monde.
… You’re still an asshole, though.
Posted by Daan van den Bergh | November 2, 2012, 03:44Daan,
Google Translator has been good to you, I see. Was it Richard Mourdock that was translated into “asshole”?
Le Clown
Posted by Le Clown | November 2, 2012, 22:47Heeey! I wrote the first sentence myself! You can at least give me props for that.
Posted by Daan van den Bergh | November 3, 2012, 05:35I previously commented some great ones had been FP’d lately. It’s great even though it ruins a post I had half written gently mocking what got Freshly Pressed. On a side note, have you played that great game WordPress put on their home page? It’s called ‘About Us’ and it’s like A Where’s Wallly of WordPress staff. I’ve already spotted a pirate and Weird Al Yankovic. At least I think it’s a game….
Posted by joehoover | November 2, 2012, 04:52Joe,

Le Clown
Posted by Le Clown | November 2, 2012, 22:44Or perhaps some of us not edging enough!
Posted by asklotta | November 2, 2012, 05:46Ask Lotta,

Le Clown

Posted by thegeekanthropologist | November 2, 2012, 17:22The Geek Anthropologist,
Love the Star Wars meme post on your blog today… The Princess Leia one, especially.
Le Clown
Posted by Le Clown | November 2, 2012, 18:50There are so many of those online. It’s because Leia kicks ass, unlike most Disney princesses.
Posted by thegeekanthropologist | November 3, 2012, 15:17Congrats y’all. IT all comes down to edginess in the end. People, consumers, readers, bloggers, we all get bored and want something new, cutting edge, even its value is not necessarily better (though it may very well be). Without the instinctive nature of the need for novelty, we’d still be living in shacks cloaked in animal hides.
So cheers! to edgy freshly pressed bloggers
Posted by the audacious amateur blogger | November 3, 2012, 01:16Maybe I need to become a little more edgy!
