Clowning, Contests

Blogroll Contest

You will find the winners of the Blogroll Contest here.

Le Clown hinted about a new blogroll on yesterday’s post. The work is in progress:

  1. A new top 12 blogroll;
  2. Le Clown’s blogroll;
  3. Eric’s blogroll.

Nothing is random. However, there are six spots left on the blogrolls. I will not offer them to the highest bidders, but to those who would like to be on either Le Clown’s blogroll or Eric’s blogroll, and who will let me know why they should have the magnificent privilege of having a link back to their own site. Here are the rules:

  1. Like the post – this will only satisfy Le Clown’s vanity;
  2. Write a comment on this post – why should you be on a blogroll… Be original;
  3. Don’t suck up to neither Le Clown nor Eric – instant disqualification;
  4. No passive aggressive comment à la “do what you feel is right, dear ******, I’ll be ok with it…” – I won’t be OK with it;
  5. Have fun with the contest, indulge, splurge.

You, my readers, will choose the winners! Come back and read your fellow bloggers’ comments, and write LIKE under your favourite comment. Bloggers who will get the most likes will be chosen. I will then create a special avatar for the winners…

Bloggers who are already on a blogroll, I’ll expect you to participate by making this contest interactive… Tease the contestants/contenders… Like your favourite comment, set fire to the thread… I’ll write a post reminder each day until the end of the contest. You have until Sunday, 11:59PM to write your best arguments.

I believe that I have one of the brightest readership on this blogosphere… I think we’re in for a treat. Newcomers are welcome to play. Let the Hunger Games begin!

  1. Right then, after liking Doggy’s Style, just because he’s bribing everyone to do so, I’m now here for Their Lives. Their’s being the lives of all rescue animals. I should be on your blog roll, without any need for justification, simply because I blog for those who cannot speak for themselves and I do NOT blog for myself. I have never read your blog before. I have no bribery to offer. I refuse to beg (the animals are better at it anyway – I’ll leave it up to them). Therefore, without any further ado, I expect to land up on the list. Thank you!

  2. What happened? Why were there so many arguments and some mean stuff? me NOT likey that. Good thing I turned in early. Happy Day everyone.

  3. I should be on your blogroll because you are the only clown that doesn’t freak me out. And because traveling penguins are under-represented in our society. Or something.

      Blogroll Contest

    • I am in favor of traveling penguins. LIKE.

      Posted by Madame Weebles | August 29, 2012, 21:51
    • Tell me a story about a traveling penguin right here. I feel I need more. I mean they are kind of my favourite animal… but I need more. And I have a serious question:

Have you ever high-fived an emperor penguin? Because I totally want to. I’m guessing that it is pretty hard to get in to see an emperor though…

      Posted by asoulwalker | August 30, 2012, 00:40
      • Well, my fiance’s spirit animal is a penguin. Seriously, he wants to be Scotland’s answer to Belgium’s Mr Penguin. We have a travel mascot called George Bailey-Penguin, who we have taken to the top of The Empire State Building on a trip to New York and to the top of Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh. The most recent trip was taken with George’s new friend, a traveling robot.

As for Emperors, we’ve never seen one, but my fiance wants to count them in Antarctica. And I’ve promised him a trip to New Zealand to see Blue penguins for his 40th birthday!

I hope you get to high-five one, too!

        • I’m not sure if it’s even safe. I mean emperors must have snipers these days. Would I be considered a security threat? If I went with Le Clown would I be considered part of the entourage of a foreign dignitary? There are just so many questions.

  7. Okay, Le Clown, here it is:
    Reasons to Nominate NBI.

    * Because I had the same idea as L&L – so in fact, her likes are mine as well, right?
*BUT I was kind enough to ask her if she wanted to form a team with me – no bitching or fighting, but a very friendly suggestion, completely in the line of friendliness spread here.
    * Because it’s quite badass to nominate a blogger with No Blog Intended as a blog name. I mean, how rebel can you be?
    * Because it will give you more spare time : instead of counting all likes, you just put me there, sit back and drink a up of tea (perhaps with a touch of rum or something) and that’s that. No more work to do! How awesome is that? Plenty of time to read other blogs and stuff.
    * Oh, and because you can call me Jules then. I won’t mind if you do. I still don’t know why you did it, but you have my permission – as soon as I’m on the roll! (See the pun? That counts as a reason too, right?)

    Best regards,
    NBI

  8. Like Maggie – you should be nice to her while you have the chance. It’s her world and we all just watch through the windows when we aren’t sleeping in the shrubs by the front door.

  12. Who made le Clown king of the hill?
Not that I don’t like you,
I’m just new to this game,

    I lost my blogging rose
    Three weeks ago now
    On a topic of shame,
Do you have a red nose?

I’m thrilled to have found you,
    And your gaggling fans,
    A circus of crazies,
do you wear glooves on your hands?

    Finding new blogs,
Is now a hobby of mine,
    I’m liking this game,
For a spot in your line,

Back to me now we go,
The round a bouts on show,
I place a ball in your mouth,
    Do my numbers grow?

    Mine’s a serious topic,
If you start from the start,
    It would make you sad,
If you only had a heart.

    Parents of children,
    Should have a read,
On the man and his hands,
    And self righteous greed

So whether I win or I lose,
    This strange little game,
I would like to gain some,
    Of your weird Frenchy fame.

  13. I know it’s not very competitive on my behalf but I’m putting in a vote for Ruby Tuesday.
Like, like, like. Such a great blog.

  14. Dear Clown on Fire,

I should win your contest because I am fresh meat. I don’t even know what a blogroll contest is. I don’t know how I could benefit from the prize. I don’t even really know why I am here, except that there is a hole in me that blogging will fill just as nicely as putting an ad on a dating site soley for the joy of corespondence would fill it. And with less guilt considering that I’m not actually looking to date anyone.

Yet, Clown, I am here to win. And you offer a contest. I am very competitive. And quite humble; even to the extent of admiting that I don’t win everything I try to win. I only win contests where the judge is super-insightful and cool.

My own blog is just finding its feet. Growing its wings. It will, someday, promote a dark comedy about domestic abuse. As a clown, you may appreciate the lubrication that humor provides when trying to jam one’s point of view into another person’s brain? Humor is golden.

And that is the other reason why I am here. Thank you for the humor!

  15. Holy cow Le Clown! It took me half an hour just to scroll down to the end of your comments. Anyway, here it is – LIKE MAGGIE! I hope I’ve read the instructions correctly.

    Posted by acflory | August 30, 2012, 07:50
  16. Wow, I fancied myself at least partially intelligent, but I seriously had to read the post like 5 times and click and scroll all over the fucking place to even understand what I am supposed to be doing. I still don’t really. But I like Hans Solo, and I like Ham, and blogrolls, so I’m going to make a Ham’s Solo Blogrollup and eat it while I I think about clowns and feel as confused as corky with an abacus. You’re Welcome.

  18. Don’t forget to put WENDY on your Blogroll,
not sure which one she prefers but any that
you see fitting and don’t give her any BS or
you won’t be on her Christmas Card list this
year or any other, no that’s not a threat, it is
just a passive comment to TELL you to ADD
WENDY on at least one of your Blogrolls…

Okay I am out of here Le Clown, or Eric or
well whomever is reading this one now, the
other bloke, whether Eric or Le Clown won’t
be included in the decisions of the second
person so I guess adding WENDY can only
be a positive move and besides she is offering
a kiss of her Ass as a pressie so how about
that for creeping? Okay enjoy your process
of elimination but remember WENDY has to
be on at least one of your blogrolls and that
    is official…

I hope I get an Oscar
    for this freakin’ ‘Like’… lmao

  19. Oh Le Clown, My fellow blogger from Canada. I am back from vacation and catching up on my reading of exquisite blog posting – and also your magnificent blog – and I find there is a contest!
I love contests. I need to be included in your blogroll. Mostly just because I should be included. I bring wit and charm and gaseous explosions to the table. I bring random thoughts and actions. I turn pie-making into something other than pie-making.
    http://merlinspielen.com/2012/08/25/conversation-after-dinner/
The pastry alone is worth a blogroll inclusion – the innuendo simply a bonus.

  20. I would love to be on your blogroll–and here are my reasons:
    1. I would be an unusual choice – I do not use foul language except when I am really really mad at my husband, so I do it to get his attention (and it works)
    2. I can be clever sometimes, but this should never be depended on
    3. I did not understand your humour at first, and now even though I do not totally understand it–I like it–or at least what I understand
    4. I am Canadian
    5. my last name is French, though I cannot speak French past a little I learned because I put my kids in French immersion
    6. I am a freelance writer and you should feel sorry for me
    7. I really like your wife’s blog (is this sucking up–sorry)
    8. that is it – that is all I have

    Posted by on thehomefrontandbeyond | September 7, 2012, 11:03
    • My dear Canadian friend,
The Blogroll Contest is a thing of the past… I will agree with all of the points you have shared with all of us… especially about my wife. And you are clever. My blogroll is a living entity, it will grow each month, and I will decide like any omnipotent dictator who will sit with us, and bask in the glory of A Clown on Fire. Visit often. As I will visit yours often. To a new friendship!

  21. Hmmmmmm—–I don’t have time to read all of the comments right now. But I’m sure I somehow deserve a place on your blogroll–at the very least because my partner Sara is terrified of clowns and this could begin a healing process for her. Okay, okay–the former is true–the latter——? One can wish, right?
    Hugs,
    Kathy

    • Kathryn,
This contest is done and over with. There will be another edition next year. But the more I read you, the more I think you belong on my blogroll. For starters, your partner’s name is Sara without an H, like mine. And if I remember correctly what Lame Adventures said, you are living with bipolar, right? So does my wife (type II). But more importantly, you write well, you’re a great artist, and I do as I please! Stay tuned… Lastly, I’m always happy to read you on my blog. It’s always such a pleasure.
