Obama is the Clear Choice, But Let’s Vote for Poppy’s Moniker

One day, Le Clown will write such a long post title that Fiona Apple is going to call and give me shit for stealing her shtick. Fiona, you don’t have to wait until then to call me…

If you have received a gold star for suggesting a moniker for our daughter, congratulations, you did not bore Le Clown, and your suggestion is up for vote. The poll is open until Friday, 11:59PM, Eastern Time. May the best blogger win – which is funny, as Le Clown is the best blogger, but he can’t vote, even though he’s a winner. He wins everything. I should rebaptize myself Le Clowinner. But that would make me a contemporary John the Baptist, and my head is prettier on my shoulders than rolling on a dirt floor.

  1. Okay, I just voted and of course voted for Voracious Intuitive Poppy because that one was mine and you gave me a gold star. It was cool when I did because I’m the first one and the little thing went to 100%. I have that going for me.

  2. I’m sorry Brigitte, I had to go with Lollipoppy because that may be one of the cutest words ever and would go perfectly with one of the cutest little girls ever.

  3. I have a few that I really like, it’s hard for me to choose. So I’m going to beat the system. I’m going to vote once from my computer, once from my laptop, once from my phone, once from Mr. Weebles’ computer, once from his laptop, and once from his phone. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

  4. Dear clown,

Ahem. I received a gold star. Where’s my suggested name?

  5. I totally adore lollipoppy as its poppylicious but I was confused between lollipoppy & Poppy Metal Petal :) Can’t wait to find out what’s final :D

  6. Such a tough decision, but I ended up voting for a short moniker. After all, Le Clown shouldn’t risk Carpal Tunnel Syndrome by writing his daughter’s name.

  7. FOOW,
You make a convincing argument. You must be a lawyer.

  8. This was a really tough one! There were so many to choose from, so my head nearly exploded with existential angst. But my vote eventually landed on Lollipoppy. It’s the cutest thing, and it’s really fun to say. :D

    • Sophy,
Argh. Lollipoppy. It’s great. But it’s soooo sweet [no pun intended]. May the best one win, I said. So I will stand behind the most voted choice. Yes I will. I can do it.

      • Actually lollipoppy sounds more like a porn name. Just saying. I think it`s better to give her a name that envourages self-esteem and empowerment like the one I came up with…POPPY METAL PETAL…or PMP. (PIMPs have power and self-esteem).

  9. I dunno, you might have to combine them…Lollipoppy is very very cute but is missing that edge. The Vociferous Lollipoppy might work. Then she also gets higher stature afforded by ‘The’.

  10. Oh and check out this great summary of 50 shades of grey. No one needs to read the book now: http://zharptitsa.wordpress.com/2012/05/27/50-redundant-shades-of-hues-and-tints-of-tones-of-gray-or-grey-or-gray/#comment-636

  11. May I just plug “The Teetering Pavot” for a moment?
Pavot being French for poppy (silent t) and adding an elegance to the formerly sleepless ones name who is also still teetering on the edge of naughtiness…perfect no?

That being said I also adore Poppy Metal Petal!

  13. This sucks. I never saw this post in my (very finicky) reader, so no suggestions from The Mama. :(
I would have suggested She Who Must Not Be Named…

    • Christine,
It’s true! You are one of my most loyal Carnies. Shame on you?
As for your suggestion, it would have been a worthy contender… I fear though that the She Who Wrote About He Who Must Not Be Named would have asked for royalties…

  14. I just voted but I don’t remember what I voted. I’ve had oral surgery. May the better man win.

  15. I’m not voting because all elections are rigged.

  16. Voted! Some really good suggestions in there.

  20. It sucks that my suggestion “shark bait” and even the one YOU suggested (that flower with the cool name) weren’t included. But I voted anyways. Your welcome.

  21. Bongo is pretty great.
I didn’t get a gold star, but I would’ve gone for “Tiny Geek” (in keeping with the circus theme AND the webiness of it all).
    Or “Mlle. Fearless”
    Or “Pop Rocks”
    Or “Little Miss Cannonball”
    Or “La Petite Chaos”
    Or “Darling Daredevil”

  22. Blast so close to the list yet so far.

  23. Hey, my suggestion’s not doing too bad! And you could always add Le to it, if you wanted another word . . . Le Poppet.

    Posted by Angel Fractured | July 11, 2012, 23:31
  24. Mine didn’t make it! I spent hours doing research, brought out the dictionary and everything for it! oh well….
I voted for Lollipoppy, its just so cute!

    Posted by MissFourEyes | July 11, 2012, 23:55
  25. That was a tough decision to make. On one hand, she’s still too cute to be anything but “awesome little kid”. But since that wasn’t an option you gotta with the choice of metal, obviously.
