Hi! My name is Eric. I’m the guy behind Le Clown. I’m a French-speaking Montrealer. I don’t live in an igloo, and I’m not really a clown. I just play one on the blogosphere.
In my real life, I don’t refer to myself in the third person. I’m happily married, and I have two kids. Blogging is new to me. I tried blogging before, on Tumblr, but abandoned when a creative writer told me I couldn’t write. I don’t have an ego the size of Le Clown’s – although we do share a very similar one-ab - but I was wounded by my critic. Where Le Clown is overly confident, I am unduly sensitive. We compliment each other that way.
The original idea behind this blog was an online journal about my life, and the tribulations of living with a woman who suffers from an unconfirmed mood disorder – in her case, bipolar type II. I don’t recall exactly when Le Clown surfaced, but the moment he did, my blog blossomed. Le Clown is an outlet, a character who’s loosely based on me, pushed to the extreme: I am confident; Le Clown is overbearing. He is a bit of a douche. Don’t let him fool you… Le Clown is a big softie. He will offend you… it’s only an act. Play along, and all will be fine.
Since February 3, 2012 (and a month in hiatus), with 190 posts, A Clown on Fire has received over 52,000 views, 7,000 comments – half of them being Le Clown’s snarky replies – and is being read by 330+ WordPress followers. I, Eric, the French Canadian author, am speechless.
Your magnificence outshines Le Clown. Merci, mes Carnies.
Post Scriptum. WordPress is playing tricks on me. I am not receiving new post notifications from all the new bloggers I have subscribed to… This means you Robin, Brigitte, Grippy, Draconian Stylist, my dear V, and the likes… One of my pleasures as a blogger is to let Le Clown loose on your blogs, and watch him go… I’m hoping this will be resolved soon. For the time being, my apologies…
Post Scriptum 2: All your comments today will be answered by Eric. Now is your chance to get to know him better, and ask him anything you’d like. Well, almost anything…
